VICTORY PROGRESSIVE SCHOOLS INTERNATIONAL SPELLING BEE:

-Emotional Aminat shrugs off school mates competition and came from behind to win maiden edition of school’s Spelling Bee

-This program will spur our kids to develop their literacy skills beyond measure – Mr. Kazeem Alaba, Proprietor, Victory Progressive Schools International

 

THE MAIDEN EDITION of Victory Progressive Schools International Spelling Bee rounded-off in a dramatic fashion, Monday May 22, 2018, at the main hall of the school complex.

The event which covers three categories, namely: The Primary, Junior and Senior secondary respectively, had students and teachers entertained by the emotion and dejection that characterised both the winners and losers.

The organizer of the Event Comrade Olamilekan who is the CEO of LAD Media said the idea of promoting literacy skills among students and pupils was to make them become effective and familiar with words and the usage. “We are doing this to make them become competent with word registers and how to use them in sentences,” he said.

For Mr. Alaba, the Founder and Proprietor of Victory Progressive Schools International said the Spelling Bee was organised to improve the literacy skills among students and pupils of the school. He charged parents to buy story and informative books for their wards in order for them to get familiar with words and usage.
“If possible, we can be organising Spelling Bee every term,” he added.

Mr. Bassey, a Senior English Language teacher spearheaded a two man team that pronounce words for pupils and students to spell. And after several rounds of spelling, four winners emerged.

Master Isaac Michael won the ‘One Day’ Headmaster for the Primary category. At the Junior Secondary category Miss. Agba Favour as ‘One Day’ Director of Studies, while in the Secondary school category, Philip Blessed won the ‘One Day’ Principal.

The peak of the Spelling Bee was when Miss. Aminat Otolorin won the ultimate prize as the ‘One Day’ Proprietress for Victory Progressive Schools International.

An emotional Aminat couldn’t hide her moment of grace as she let down tears of joy and hugged her teachers as a sign of a job well done. According to her, “I will thank my teachers because they trained me to come this far,” she submitted.

Among invited dignitaries at the event was Hon. Sulaimon Bolajoko, Councillor representing ‘Ward B’ in Ifelodun LCDA.
